The earliest form of the Sacoche was the "**Musette**" in cycling races.

Purpose: In long-distance races, when riders passed feed zones, staff would hand them a small cloth bag containing food and water bottles.
Design: To allow riders to easily grab food with one hand while cycling at high speeds, these bags were designed to be extremely thin and flat, with shoulder straps just long enough to keep the bag close to the back or side, preventing it from swinging and interfering with riding.

The credit for transforming the Sacoche into its current form goes to Japanese outdoor brands.

Pain Point: When hikers carried large, heavy backpacks, taking out maps, compasses, or snacks required removing the large pack, which was very inconvenient.
Improvement: Japanese functional brands (such as And Wander, Mont-bell, etc.) drew inspiration from cycling musettes and refined them into durable, waterproof, and lightweight "**chest accessory bags**."
Style: They used high-tech lightweight fabrics like X-Pac or Dyneema, making the Sacoche a core item in the "Urban Outdoor" style.

As "Urban Outdoor" and "Techwear" entered urban life, the Sacoche quickly gained popularity due to its "airy" feel:
